Under Wildwood

Yay! It's finally here!
I have read the first one, instantly fell in love with it after the first few pages, and pre-ordered the second one (AND was overly excited to find out a third book will be out soon!)
All in all, the perfect start to a new week :)

Read Me A Story: Il Etait Une Fois

I have been known to hold a soft spot in my heart for pop-up books,
and this one was love at first sight...

Benjamin Lacombe's Il Etait Une Fois comprises of eight classic fairy tales (Alice In Wonderland, Pinocchio, The Sleeping Beauty, Bluebeard, Peter Pan, Little Red Riding Hood, Mrs Butterfly, and Thumbelina ) conjured up by a double-page masterly crafted mechanism.
The result is, to say the least, stunning:

Even the promo video for the book is a work of art:

Nature's Architects

I got this book as a Christmas present for my special fella, and he loved it.
{I am still not quite sure if it appealed more to his being an architect or to his hedgehog-y nature}

This little book is quite lovely, filled (as one might expect from books of this kind) with intriguing trivia about the dwelling-making of all sorts of little creatures, and it smells like an attic in early Autumn.
(Yes, I am one of those gals that just has to smell her books)

Unfortunately, most of the plates have long ago parted ways with the little book, however there are some that have stuck ~pardon the pun~around, and most pages are adorned with beautiful black and white photographs and illustrations.

An Unbirthday Gift...

...to myself! I found it this morning while browsing through a bookstore, and I just had to have it...I collect Alice books for many years now, and it seems there is no such thing as too many Alice books ( well, at least for me :)). And really, I am just doing research for my next collection of paintings. ( OK, that was the excuse I pulled for my lovely boyfriend when he peered at the shopping bag and saw yet another one of those...although that is really going to be the theme for the next collection)

Have a lovely week everyone!
